Palaiokastro is a small settlement in the Kozani prefecture of the Macedonia region, which is situated on the northwest slopes of Vourinos, south of Siatista. Archeological findings which suggest the habitation of the area 100 thousand years ago were discovered at Gla place.
At Palaiokastro there are six sport climbing routes with difficulties from 5b to 6c and a height of 9m to 10m, on the unknown quality limestone. With a northwesterly orientation, and due to its location in a small valley, the crag is ideal for climbing during the spring and autumn. To repeat any of the routes at Palaiokastro, a 60m rope and 5 quickdraws are sufficient.
Access
Palaiokastro is located on the foothills of Vourinos, south of Siatista, and is approached from the north, exiting Egnatia Odos (A2) at Bara and following the Vari - Bara road. To reach the crag from the village of Palaiokastro, we continue for 350m on an eastern bearing towards the cemetery, then turning right on a dirt road we follow it for another 200m until the base of the crag.
